Cs 710 unit 2 Twitter

Twitter! “To talk lightly and rapidly, especially of trivial matters; chatter” or “to tremble with excitement or the like; be in flutter.” (dictionary.com)  My experience with Twitter has been to avoid it!  From the moment I saw congressmen defiantly avert their eyes from a presidential address to spew sarcasm and disdain through their cellphones, I wanted nothing to do with it.  I saw it as talking under one’s breath; constant jabbing!  But it may actually have some value.

Twitter is an instantaneous information system.  If need arises, and all that “need” follow the tweets, information such as emergencies, reminders, encouragement, and warnings could be sent out with only a few characters.  Of course this should be in conjunction with other systems, such as email,  school website, robocalling, television news, for clarification and detail.  But quick short bursts of information can reach multiple targets quickly.

Also Twitter enables distance communication between like minded individuals that my not otherwise find each other.  The principal in Elderton PA could pick the brain of a principal or teacher in Billings MT.  This could be viewed as collaboration and collegiality that could validate and administrators position on a given topic or that could alter their perception toward a more correct path.
